About Me
Nice to Meet you! I'm D-SANG
I'm a percussionist, arranger, and content creator based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. My areas of specialty include marching, drum set, classical/concert and world.
Born in Queens, NY and raised in Old Tappan, NJ I found my love for music through participating in my school's music programs.
I earned my Bachelor's in Music Education from the University of Delaware and my Master's in Music Performance from Miami University as the Graduate Assistant for Athletic Bands. During my time as a student I've had the opportunity to perform for Joe Biden in the 2021 Presidential Inauguration Parade, won the 2020 University of Delaware Concerto Competition, and toured Spain with the University of Delaware Wind Ensemble. I've also had the pleasure of performing with the Richmond Jazz Orchestra as their drummer. In the winter of 2020 I won first prize in the Virtuoso International Music Competition and the Manhattan International Music Competition, earning a performance at Carnegie Hall for my performance on marimba/loopstation. (Cancelled due to COVID-19)
I pursued my passion for the marching arts by going on tour as a tenor drummer with Drum Corps International groups Pioneer, Spartans and Cadets2. I've also performed with the University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hen Marching Band and I currently perform with the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue Drumline.
With these experiences I've garnered a reputation of competitive success in the competitieve drumline and band world both at the High School and Collegiate level. My percussion sections have competed in local circuits, WGI, UIL and the BOA stage earning several Outstanding Percussion caption awards. I'm proud to currently be working as an active percussion educator and arranger with percussion sections all over the country in states such as New Jersey, Delaware, Indiana, Ohio and Texas.
